After the launch of Apple’s subscription-based platform for its podcast app, Spotify has also embarked on the same journey. However, the latter’s platform distinguishes itself as it refrains from collecting podcasters subscriber revenues for the next two years after which a 5% fee will be levied.

Spotify is looking to help podcasters earn better revenue via their ‘subscriber-only’ monetization model. Podcasters can mark the episodes which require a subscription to listen to either on Spotify or other podcasting platforms. Currently, this service is available to US listeners and will soon be available in other regions in the coming months.
