Nordic subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) market is registering some lucrative numbers for video streaming services, as 45% Of the Scandinavian households now have at least one SVOD service, according to research. There are currently five million households in the region who subscribe to at least one OTT service with streaming services gaining constant acceleration.
Since Q1 2017, half of all Nordic households are expected to have at least one paid streaming service which indicates a staggering 700,000 net subscribers in the region. According to sources, the growth of online videos will only be more in the coming years.
As far as the number game rolls, Netflix continues its dominance in the regional SVOD market with close to 3.5 million subscribers. Local SVOD services such as MTG’s Viaplay and C More, are getting an edge over the streaming giant which according to sources have witnessed a 10% dip in the market share since spring 2016.
