Local newspaper El Tiempo reported that State telecommunications company RTVC of Colombia announced that it is preparing to launch its own VOD platform, which would be made available to the public in June.

The service would be free and will have a VOD catalogue of the network’s main contents in Colombia. The platform is at this time running as a pilot and they are making corresponding changes and technological adjustments.

Liliana Chacon Gonzalez, RTVC’s Director of Technology says, “It’s something on which we have been working patiently in a bid to modernize ourselves. We have our own software factory within the entity, used to do all the digital development, without subcontracting labor. It is a step that had to be taken to enter the media convergence.”
