According to a study by research firm Park Associates, around 20% of U.S homes having broadband have given up at least one OTT VOD platform in the last year. At the same time, the number of subscribers for SVOD is increasing, from 59% in 2014 to 64% in 2015. This indicates that people are trying out new SVODs and then settling upon one. Netflix is still on top, with around 52%. Cancellations on Netflix stood at 5%. Amazon is subscribed in 24% of US broadband households, and has seen a 19% drop in subscriptions in the last year. This could change after the very recent announcement of the new monthly subscription scheme.
There are around 101 SVOD and VOD services in the US, and 33 of them were added last year alone.
