As demand for VOD services rise, networks like NBC have started pushing their program providers to give more accessibility on video on demand. Producers are often reluctant in letting more than 5 episodes of their show run on streaming services because of the fear of losing the rerun value. ‘Stacking rights’ on the right hand help viewers catch up on shows after they have been aired. Warner Bros. recently granted ABC full season VOD rights for all shows of their studio. NBC also claims to have received similar deals.
