Reputed media brands are looking to expand into the video streaming business. Sony, HBO, AT&T, Disney are reportedly looking to enter the space. There is a sizable market that includes cord cutters and also around 10-15 million homes that have high speed internet but no Pay-TV connection. This would be a direct challenge to the current video streaming leaders – Netflix, Hulu, Amazon. AT&T’s recent launch of DirecTV is a step in that direction. The intention is clearly to target the young who are increasingly interested in modern streaming services, and primarily constitute of cord cutters.
