Live streaming apps have started a new reality show industry in China. Real users generating live video streaming content that is edgy and caters to the young modern lifestyle is in demand. On top of the list in the country is Ingkee, which is very much inspired from Meerkat and Periscope. With over 50 million downloads, live streaming companies like Ingkee face heat from the country’s strict content restrictions – something that is tricky with live video. Douyu, another mobile based live streaming app claims to have 600,000 users who have streamed at least once and 120 million active monthly users.
