German Telecommunication company, Freenet Group has joined the OTT bandwagon with its brand new video-on-demand (VOD) service. Freenet AG has signed a five-year agreement with German independent producer/distributor, Splendid Films to launch a new VOD service on Freenet’s mobile carrier unit Debitel.

Users can access more than 8,000 films and series in high-resolution quality. As part of the contract, Splendid will provide more than 1,000 films and TV series, as well as rentals and purchases from various genres for the SVOD platform.

Patrick Gehl, Head of Digital Lifestyle, Freenet quoted, “Our product offers a first-class price/performance ratio. We want to address customers who previously thought that streaming services were not very attractive to them, both in terms of price and offer”.
