According to a new research by Entertainment Retailers Association, investments by digital services such as Amazon, Sky, Apple Music, Spotify, and Google has resulted in sales of music, video and games, keeping £1 billion ahead of where they were four years ago. The research stated that the booming digital services has helped music, video and games markets achieve new all-time record sales of £6.3 billion (€7.37bn) in 2016, 3% up from the previous year.
For the first time ever in 2016, the video streaming market became a majority contributing 58% revenues from downloads and subscription video streaming services exceeding those of DVD and Blu-ray discs.
