According to a recent Amazon Prime Video study by IHS Technology, the global launch of the OTT platform will draw back 64 million video subscribers by 2020. Just like Netflix, Amazon’s global launch happened without much localization efforts, and the viewers across the globe have access to Amazon’s original programming, few international languages and pricing in dollars and euros.
Netflix was launched in 50 countries and territories between 2011 and 2015, before its global launch to 130 countries in 2016, whereas Amazon prime video was only available in Austria, Germany, UK, US and Japan during its global launch.
