In a first ever, a cancer patient’s surgery at the Royal London NHS hospital was live streamed using VR. Viewers around the world could get the view from the surgeon’s eye of what’s like to be inside an operating room during surgery. “It showcases virtual reality for what it should be used for-education,” said Dr.Shafi Ahmed, “This is a game changer and they can see if anything goes wrong how we react to it.”

360 video streaming of a tumor removal surgery using Google glass was carried out in 2014. VR streaming is expected to become a part of medical training in the near future.
