Bundles are a way to market in a more effective manner. Cable TV rose in the early 90s and many unwatched channels too were subscribed because of bundles. Now video streaming services like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu and others are looking to offer in package bundles that would be easier and more affordable for the end user. Considering the fact that one out of seven Americans is a cord cutter, bundles will be a great way to have the best of both worlds. Subscribing to each SVOD service is expensive, and it all boils down to affordability and choice that bundles might be able to solve.
“I think what you’ll see the industry begin to experiment with is subscription video on demand and maybe packages of those that are offered within a bundle,” said John Hendricks, the founder of Discovery Channel. He added “So you may see four, five or six SVOD services bundled together for less money than if you purchased them individually.”
