According to insider sources, e-Commerce giant – Amazon may launch its free ad-supported music streaming service before the end of this April. The service would be made available only on company’s Echo devices through Alexa and is supposed to offer a limited catalog of tunes of major music labels.

Currently, Amazon has two music streaming options – Amazon Music Unlimited at $9.99 per month and Prime Music at $119 per year. However, considering the growing market for ad-supported music streaming, Amazon is finally willing to launch its own free music platform.

Spotify is the only major music streaming service that offers ad-supported free subscriptions to users worldwide. It has around 212 million subscribers worldwide that include 116 million free subscribers.

Indeed, with this free ad-supported music streaming service Amazon would definitely challenge Spotify in the global market.
