There has been an increase of 60% in people of Germany wanting to replace cable/satellite TV with Over-the-Top connected TV services. This is according to a survey by market research institute, TNS Infratest conducted for Zattoo – an internet TV provider. According to Jörg Meyer, chief officer content and consumer at Zattoo, “Most households have high-speed internet. Large technology companies such as Amazon, Apple, Google or Samsung push into the market with powerful streaming boxes and TV sets,” He added, “And the internet TV services continuously improve regarding streaming quality, content offering and ease of use.”

30% viewers use video streaming on smart TVs, 76% is accessed on laptops and PCs, followed by tablets and smartphones at 24% and 20% respectively. YouTube is the highest video streaming service on-demand (66%) followed by TV channels’ catch-up and VOD services.
