Creating Sustainable Sports Platform

Schools often have trouble showcasing all of their sports, and even if they have the desire, developing a platform that is sustainable can be difficult. With Muvi’s OTT capabilities, the ability and ease of creating organization-specific streaming platforms has never been simpler! MUVI and Scorebird, together, can create advanced sport platforms for any program.

About Scorebird

Scorebird started initially as a score reporting company aiming to bring transparency to sports of all levels. Allowing organizations like schools and clubs to bring their live scores to their websites and social media was not widely accessible, and that was what the goal for Scorebird in 2014 was.

From live social media updates to embeddable digital scoreboard for organizations websites, Scorebird’s automated score updates provided transparency for teams that otherwise would have had none (with the exception of being physically present). It wasn’t until Covid hit, in 2020, until the current niche would be exploited: live broadcast overlays. While live score reporting for websites and social media are still very much at play, the in-game graphics were the real game-changers.

How Scorebird Works

Whether you’re looking for score reporting in the traditional sense, described earlier, or live broadcast overlays, the process remains the same. Scorebird’s Network Scoring Transmitter (NeST) allows for both to be easily accessible. The NeST acts as a direct connection to individual scoreboards or scoreboard controllers. When a game is live, the NeST is at work, relaying the scores displayed on the scoreboard to you.

Pair this capability with a camera and microphone, and you have an advanced sports broadcast for your fans, parents, and faculty. And the best part is, it’s primarily automated. Sure, the quick setup will be manually done, but once in place, it’s smooth sailing.

How Scorebird Accomplishes the Transparency Issue

Increasing transparency of athletes and sport programs was always Scorebird’s goal, and it accomplishes it by minimizing necessary resources required. This plays out in two ways.

1. Reducing Setup Burden

Professional organizations and large schools often have contracts with different networks to take care of anything broadcast related. From multiple cameras, commentary, on-screen graphics, and anything production-related, these organizations have very sophisticated broadcasts. This is not the case for many schools.

Creating a process that can be set up and run by an individual allows for limited administrative burden, which is always a positive.

2. Reducing Costs

Another constraint on smaller organizations/schools is budget. With limited budgets, getting crews in to run the broadcasts is inefficient, costly, and ultimately not worth it. Creating a subscription-based service with our NeST allows for flexibility without breaking the bank.

Reducing both the setup time and costs was the key to accomplishing the transparency issue described earlier. Making the solutions accessible was paramount.

The Necessary Broadcast Information Is Present, But What Happens Next?

The live scores are now being transmitted in real-time to the live stream, therefore, it is now up to the organizations and schools to get those feeds on their websites or social media platforms. This works well if there are only a handful of live streams at the most occurring at the same time. For some of these larger organizations running concurrent events, or even higher profile events, managing these broadcasts can become costly in more ways than one.

Finding solutions that help manage, and almost equally important, monetize their multiple feeds.

Muvi Steps In

Allowing for organizations to create their own, personalized OTT platforms was the necessary solution to the aforementioned problem! With Muvi, the ability to create scalable, monetized platforms that showcase an organization’s athletic programs is here. With monetization options like pay-per-view, subscriptions, and advertisements, the organization has the flexibility it needs.

Why Is This “Flexibility” Important?

Like mentioned earlier, one of the constraints put upon smaller schools and organizations is the financial burden that broadcasting efforts can cause. Allowing for revenue collection is

paramount, in many cases, for these programs to maintain their visibility, the maintenance of which has always been Scorebird’s end-goal.

The best part is, this feature is not one-dimensional. With the option for pay-per-view, subscriptions and advertisements, organizations can generate revenue in ways that suit them specifically.

That’s Not All

MUVI is set up to increase fan engagement. In conjunction with the live stream, they have optional features like polls and live chats that are available on web, mobile apps, or even gaming consoles!

Greater fan engagement, paired with increased accessibility, optimizes the user experience, which ultimately benefits the athletic programs utilizing the services.

Working Together

The partnership between Scorebird and MUVI, looking back, was a no-brainer, given how the two services compliment each other. Working with MUVI, Scorebird is positioned much better in what they originally set out to accomplish: increase visibility for every athlete and athletic program, in any way possible.

Together, the possibility to create comprehensive, advanced sport platforms for organizations that previously had limited options is achievable!
